19-Year Old Designs New Shoe for Kobe
NIKEiD Contest in China Received
Nearly 4,000 Entries
A 19-year-old high school student from Ji Lin Province in Northern China, beat out nearly 4,000 other entries in an online contest in China to design a version of Kobe Bryant’s Zoom Kobe IV shoe via www.NIKEiD.com.
Bryant selected the Nike Zoom Kobe IV shoe designed by Wang Handong that he most wanted to wear on the court this season and debuted them last month. Handong described his winning Zoom Kobe IV NIKEiD design: “The golden Swoosh and the shoelace are the color emitted by stars.”
Just 10 designs were chosen from the thousands submitted: five that would comply with league rules, and five that were just cool. Second and third-place finishers received gift certificates to www.NIKEiD.com.
