Positive youth activities in urban West Los Angeles are limited, and nearly half of the school district's students speak English as a second language. The majority non-white population of 40,000 had only one damaged running track. Three schools will benefit from the track dedicated last January by Suzy Favor Hamilton. Before the renovation, Culver City had been unable to hold meets. With a new track, they will host the Arco/Jesse Owens Regional Track Meet yearly.
