F.L. Schlagle High School and Washington High School, Kansas Public Schools,
Kansas City, Kansas

Dedicated: Summer 2002

Maurice Greene, the "world's fastest man," graduated from Schlagle High School, yet Kansas City did not have a single all-weather track. The school district received two separate Bowerman grants: one to assist with refurbishing the track at Washington High School and a second grant to help build the district-wide Maurice Greene Track Complex at Schlagle High School. The Boys & Girls Clubs, and YWCAs and YMCAs will use the complex. In the summer of 2002, athletes from the 20,800-student district in Kansas City will run on state-of-the-art running tracks.
