In February 2008, Nike introduced our NikeMobileStore in Accra, Ghana. The idea of the van was to make Nike products more accessible and affordable while simultaneously giving energy to local entrepreneurship. The NikeMobileStore provides job opportunities for the local community and gives *athletes there the tools they need to play. *If you have a body you’re an athlete- Nike Co-founder, Bill Bowerman.

"The NikeMobileStore is just a small step in Nike’s commitment to Ghana and the African continent," said Karsten Koehler, Nike’s Africa Business Director. "The program provides discounted premium product to communities in and around Accra and illustrates one way in which Nike has innovated to provide communities with easier access to sport."

Nike brings innovation and inspiration to athletes in more than 25 African countries and works with a dozen local partners. Nike has made a long-term commitment to give access to the benefits of sport to all young people through innovative programs and partnerships under the banner of its Let Me Play initiative.

In April, the NikeMobileStore’s reach expands beyond the capital to other cities in Ghana. It will bring a range of quality football boots, top league football replica jerseys, sport inspired sneakers and apparel items.

The inspiration for the van was to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurship and greater accessibility to affordable products.
