Nike sees Sustainable Business and Innovation as an integral part of how we can use the power of our brand, the energy and passion of our people, and the scale of our business to create meaningful change.

The opportunity is greater than ever for sustainability principles and practices to deliver business returns and become a driver of growth, to build deeper consumer and community connections and to create positive social and environmental impact in the world.

Nike releases its fiscal 2007 to 2009 Corporate Responsibility report as part of the company's commitment to reporting and transparency.

The report outlines the next evolution of Nike's strategy from a risk management, philanthropic and compliance model to a long-term strategy focused on innovation, collaboration, transparency and advocacy to prepare the company to thrive in a sustainable economy.

Nike's increased focus on Sustainable Business and Innovation (SB&I) will now be more seamlessly integrated across the company's business strategies, creating a more sustainable approach aimed at providing greater returns to Nike's business, communities, contract factory workers, consumers and the planet.

The report also details progress on Nike’s five-year CR goals and provides a comprehensive review of the company's CR efforts over the past three years.

Nike recognizes the impacts of declining natural resources and the need to move to a low-carbon economy, and to use the report to share the company's vision of reaching a closed-loop business model where the goal is to achieve zero waste throughout the supply chain and have products and materials that can be continuously reused — no pre or post consumer waste. This vision is designed to drive innovative and sustainable business processes and models.

Nike’s corporate responsibility report is available online here which provides greater detail on progress against targets and a comprehensive review of the company’s efforts for fiscal years 2007, 2008 and 2009. Nike's media release announcing the report is also available online.
